Orban called the EU's financing of Ukraine madness

On November 13, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called the European Union's decision to allocate funding to Ukraine madness.

"What a mess they want to pour the money of European taxpayers from Brussels into. <...> This is madness," he wrote on Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in Russia).

According to Orban, European taxpayers' funds "if they are not spent at the front, they will be given to the military mafia." He stressed that Hungary would not send its citizens' funds to finance Ukraine and would not succumb to "blackmail by the Ukrainian president."

On November 13, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the transfer of about €6 billion to Ukraine under the G7 credit facility allocated for income from Russian assets.
