Lukoil has asked the US authorities to extend the deadline set by the US Treasury Department for completing operations with the company, which expires on November 21. This was reported on November 12 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Lukoil is seeking an extension because it needs more time to close its existing obligations," the agency says.

In addition, according to the interlocutors of Reuters, the company also needs additional time to study proposals related to international assets in the field of oil and gas production, refining and trading. The agency's sources do not specify which specific proposals are in mind.

Neither Lukoil nor the US Treasury have commented on the publication yet.

On October 22, the US Treasury Department announced the imposition of sanctions against Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil. On October 27, the company announced its intention to sell its foreign assets.

On October 30, the press service of Lukoil announced the approval of a deal to sell 100% of the international company LUKOIL International GmbH Gunvor. It was noted that its final implementation required the approval of the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury (OFAC), as well as other licenses and permits from the authorities of other countries where the company operates. Later, on November 7, the company withdrew its offer to purchase Lukoil's assets.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, noted on November 7 that the measures taken by the United States and Great Britain harm the global trade regime, as Lukoil is a very large player in the global market.
