The United States has given Hungary a one-year reprieve from sanctions against the purchase of oil and gas from Russia. This was announced on November 12 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with reporters in Canada following a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7).
"We are talking about a one-year postponement. A sharp refusal [to purchase oil and gas from the Russian Federation] would be excessively traumatic for the [Hungarian] economy," Rubio said.
