Ottawa's new sanctions against Moscow are as useless as a mosquito net on a submarine. This was stated by the Russian Embassy in the social network X (former. Twitter).

"The Canadian government seems blissfully unaware that its sanctions are as effective as a mosquito net on a submarine. They are not seen anywhere outside of Ottawa," the statement says.

The embassy suggested that the Canadian authorities are trying to impress the G7 (G7) foreign ministers, who are holding a meeting in Ontario.

"Although they're probably laughing up their sleeve. Like our garden gnome," the Russian diplomats added.

The comment is accompanied by an image of a gnome covering his smile with his palm.

On the same day, it was reported that Canada had expanded restrictive measures against Russia. The sanctions lists include 13 individuals and 11 legal entities. In addition, measures have been introduced against several organizations that are allegedly involved in the development and production of Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The Telegraph newspaper reported on November 6 that it would be economically feasible to lift sanctions against Russia after the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. According to the newspaper, the lifting of restrictions will allow Western countries to regain access to the lucrative Russian market, as after the imposition of sanctions, Western states lost billions of dollars in revenue from cooperation with the Russian Federation.
