Europe is threatened by an antibiotic-resistant "superbug" detected in Ukrainian soldiers. This was announced on November 12 by Henry Skinner, CEO of the AMR Action Fund.

"While these infections are already causing harm <...> in Ukraine, their epidemiological rise poses a growing threat to European health systems far beyond the front line," reads a publication on the Innovation News Network portal.

In his article, Skinner mentions the results of a study by Sumy State University of Ukraine, which shows that 85% of infections of wounded soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) They are resistant to many types of antibiotics.

The most common pathogen is Acinetobacter baumannii, which the World Health Organization (WHO) considers a critical threat, he notes.

Earlier, on November 11, The Telegraph newspaper reported that an outbreak of gas gangrene had occurred in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to military doctors, the disease is spreading amid prolonged fighting and difficulties in evacuating the wounded from the battle zone.
