The Russian electric car retained the title of the bestseller of the EV segment
The electric car of the Russian brand Amberauto, which is produced in the Kaliningrad region by Avtotor, became the best-selling model in the electric car segment in Russia in October. This was reported on November 11 by the analytical agency Autostat.
In mid-autumn, 358 Amberauto A5 electric sedans were sold in Russia. The model has continued to hold the title of market leader since September.
The Zeekr 001 crossover remained in second position, and in October it sold 148 copies. The domestic Evolute i-Joy crossover is in third place (99 units), followed by the Chinese Avatr 11 SUV (92 units). The fifth was the Evolute i-Pro sedan (72 units), the production of which has already been completed at the plant in the Lipetsk region.
It is noted that in October, Amberauto also leads the brand rating, and this happened for the first time. Zeekr dropped to the second position in mid-autumn (291 units), followed by Evolve (256 units) and Avatr (110 units), BYD and Xiaomi shared the fifth place (107 units each).
In total, 1,614 new electric cars were sold in Russia in October (+20% by October 2024), this result was the best in the last 18 months. From January to October, sales totaled 9,600 units (-37% YoY).
The Amberauto car brand was introduced by Avtotor in February last year. The Amberauto A5 electric sedan is produced as part of technological cooperation with a foreign partner and is renamed the Chinese JMEV Yi.
Earlier, on November 10, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, concluded that the Chinese car brand Ora was ending its presence in the Russian market, pointing to low sales of cars of this brand. According to the expert, dealers have practically no Ora cars left.
