The Baltic countries overestimate their importance for Western Europe. This was stated on November 11 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with Russian media.

"They, of course, greatly overestimate their importance for Western Europeans, for the old—timers of the European Union," he said.

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that the Baltic countries in the EU were given the task of doing as much abomination as possible in relations with Russia, and at the same time provoking the country to take actions that the United States would then try to present, first of all, as grounds for launching serious hostilities based on the fifth article of the Washington NATO Treaty.

"And those in Europe who maintain common sense and really care about the security of the continent, and there are fewer and fewer of them, they are well aware of the provocative role played by these Baltic countries, primarily their British curators," Lavrov said.

The Lithuanian government decided to completely close the borders with Belarus for a period of one month on October 29. Later it became known that because of this decree, about 5,000 Lithuanian trucks were blocked on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, which, as the State Customs Committee of Belarus informed on November 1, would be able to return only after the borders were opened.
