A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. Units of the North group of forces defeated formations of the mechanized brigade, the assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the air defense brigade in the areas of the settlements of Alekseevka, Pavlovka and Sadki in the Sumy region. In the Kharkiv direction, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces motorized infantry brigade were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Sinelnikovo and Volchansk in the Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 140 soldiers, four vehicles and a field artillery piece. An ammunition depot and six material depots were destroyed.

"The units of the Zapad group of forces have improved their position along the front line. The manpower and equipment of two mechanized assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard brigade were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Petropavlovsk, Kurilovka, Boguslavka, Novoplatonovka of the Kharkiv region, Drobyshevo and Novoselovka of the DPR. In the area of Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, assault detachments of the 6th Army continued to destroy the encircled enemy group. The eastern part of the city has been completely liberated," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The units of the "Southern" group of forces have taken more advantageous positions and positions. Formations of two mechanized airmobile brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard brigade were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Seversk, Zvanovka, Vasyukovka, Ivanopolye, Platonovka, Kuzminovka, Konstantinovka, Verolyubovka, Pleshcheyevka and Klinove of the DPR. The enemy lost more than 185 soldiers, a tank, three armored combat vehicles, 12 vehicles and three field artillery pieces. An ammunition depot and a material depot were destroyed.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated transport infrastructure facilities used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, unmanned aerial vehicles storage sites, temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 140 districts. In turn, air defense systems shot down 69 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 668 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 95,994 UAVs, 635 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,960 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,611 multiple rocket launchers, 31,240 field artillery and mortars, 46,359 units of special military vehicles.
