The State Duma denied plans to disconnect Russia from the external Internet
There are no plans to disconnect Russia from the external Internet and a number of foreign services. This was announced on November 10 by the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Sergei Boyarsky.
"There is no question of disconnecting the Russian segment from foreign services," TASS quoted him as saying.
The parliamentarian noted that Russia regularly faces DDoS attacks, but has learned how to neutralize them, and also knows how to distinguish useful content from negative content.
"We will continue to act just as selectively so that those familiar, let's say, foreign resources that Russians use remain in their constant access," the deputy concluded.
This is how he commented on information that appeared online about the alleged possible shutdown of a foreign segment of the Internet in the event of external interference in the elections in 2026.
The day before, the Russian Ministry of Finance called fake messages about upcoming Internet restrictions. According to the Ministry, fixed, mobile and satellite Internet is operating in accordance with the standard regime throughout Russia, taking into account the specifics of ensuring security in different regions.
