The court extended the measure of restraint to the criminal authority Stokozub
The Moscow Regional Court extended the preventive measure in the form of detention for six months to criminal boss Sergei Stokozub, nicknamed Samarsky, and the second person involved in the case, Amayak Galstyan. Depending on their role and degree of involvement, they are accused of occupying the highest position in the criminal hierarchy, extortion and robbery. This was reported on November 10 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
It is noted that Stokozub's defense applied for a change in the preventive measure, arguing that there were no legal grounds for his continued detention. According to the lawyer, the arguments about the possible continuation of criminal activity, pressure on witnesses and concealment from the investigation have not been confirmed. The accusation itself, according to him, refers to the events of 2010. He also noted that all of Stokozub's previous convictions had been expunged.
In relation to Galstyan, the defense also asked for a preventive measure unrelated to detention. According to the human rights activist, the person involved is known as a philanthropist and does not pose a real danger to society.
According to investigators, in July 1997, the repeatedly convicted Stockozub was given the status of a "thief in law" and took the highest position in the criminal hierarchy. Samarsky acted as the head of an organized group. In February 2014, together with another defendant and their accomplice, they threatened violence and demanded that the CEO of ElCom LLC transfer 2 million rubles and the right to use the legal entity's checking account to them. The man provided them with access to the company's checking account and gave them more than 1.9 million rubles.
In addition, the defendants and their accomplice stole two cars belonging to the victim. The total cost of the cars is estimated at about 800 thousand rubles. The defendants did not admit their guilt in committing crimes.
Earlier, on October 22, the defense of criminal boss Oleg Medvedev (Shishkan) filed an appeal to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation with a request to cancel his life sentence in a murder case and occupy the highest position in the criminal hierarchy.
Oleg Medvedev headed a criminal community of 18 people. Its participants are charged with a number of serious and especially serious crimes, including murder, extortion, injury to health, illegal possession of firearms and others. In June 2024, Shishkan was sentenced to life in prison.
