With the onset of cold weather and a decrease in air humidity, many people face dry skin, sore throat and cough. Nutritionists note that the inclusion of juicy fruits in the diet helps maintain water balance and reduce the manifestations of the so-called autumn dryness. This was reported on November 7 by the Sohu media portal with reference to Jin Hui, director of the Department of Clinical Nutrition at the Zhongda Hospital at the Southeastern University of China.

Doctors pointed out the benefits of pears, calling it the best remedy for dry cough and thirst. It is noted that the fruit contains more than 85% water, vitamins and fiber, which helps to replenish fluid loss and alleviate irritation in the throat. Pear has a cooling and moisturizing effect, cleanses the lungs and relieves inflammation. In its raw form, the fruit refreshes, and in its baked form it nourishes and restores the body.

Grapes protect the skin and the immune system. It is rich in glucose, vitamins and antioxidants, including anthocyanins, which slow down aging and protect the skin from drying out. Grapes also strengthen the immune system, support liver and kidney function, and help with fatigue and dryness of the mucous membranes.

Pomegranate contains vitamin C, B vitamins and trace elements. The juice of this fruit is able to quench thirst, remove toxins and alleviate the manifestation of autumn dryness.

Persimmons are also rich in vitamin C. It also contains carotene and pectin, a water—soluble fiber that improves digestion. The fruit helps to cleanse the lungs, eliminates fever and cough, and relieves symptoms caused by dry air.

Earlier, on November 5, Daria Khaikina, an endocrinologist and nutritionist at SM Clinic, named products that will help maintain immunity in late autumn. She named sauerkraut as one of the best autumn superfoods. According to her, it contains probiotics and vitamin C, which strengthens the immune system. Khaikina also recommended including berries, fish, nuts and oils in the diet, and recommended eating quince, pear and pomegranate fruits.
