BBC Director General Tim Davey announced his resignation on November 9 after criticism over editing a speech by US President Donald Trump.

"I wanted to inform you that I have decided to leave the BBC after 20 years of work. This is entirely my own decision, and I remain deeply grateful to the chairman and the board of Directors for their unwavering and unanimous support throughout my term, including the last few days," Davey said in a letter posted on the BBC website.

According to Davey, the BBC is working well, but several mistakes have been made, and as CEO he must take full responsibility.
