Scientists have managed to capture the first signal of the approaching 3I/ATLAS

Scientists have managed to capture the first signal that was sent in the 1665 MHz and 1667 MHz lines from the 3I/ATLAS space object approaching Earth. This was announced on November 4 on the website of the Astronomer's Telegram Internet service for the dissemination of information about space observations.

"We observed 3I/ATLAS with MeerKAT <...>using L-band receivers and NE54M correlator mode (1.633 kHz channel width), achieving a RMS sensitivity of 1.5 MJ/beam in a 0.3 km/s channel with a beam size of 40 V. OH absorption was detected in both the 1665 MHz and 1667 MHz lines," the statement said.
