- The Ka-226 crash in Dagestan killed the deputy head of KEMZ and three leading specialists.
The deputy general director and leading specialists of the Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant (KEMZ) are among those killed in the crash of the Ka-226 helicopter in Dagestan. This was announced on November 8 by the company's press service.
"As a result of the tragic accident, four people were killed, three more were taken to the hospital, one of whom, Pyotr Georgievich Surov, a flight mechanic born in 1968, died in hospital," the Telegram channel said.
The KA-226 aircraft of Concern KEMZ JSC crashed at 15:10 Moscow time near the village of Achi-Su on November 7. The helicopter crashed on a private uninhabited house in Achi-Su. A criminal case was opened into the incident under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport, which negligently resulted in the death of two or more persons").
A preliminary investigation suggested that a technical malfunction could have been the cause of the crash. Later, the emergency services clarified that the helicopter crash was caused by an engine fire in flight. The Federal Air Transport Agency classifies the incident as a disaster.
