After the murder of Roman Novak, a crypto fraudster in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a fraudulent request for a loan of $200,000 was sent from his account. A screenshot of the correspondence was received by Izvestia on November 7.
The correspondence on Novak's behalf says that he is in Oman, found himself in a difficult situation in the mountains and urgently needs to pay people for work.
"I urgently need to send $200,000 for work to people," the text of the message says.
The source of Izvestia does not know who exactly wrote the message and suggested that fraudsters had already taken over the account of the murdered cryptographer at that time.
TV channel 78.ru On November 7, he reported that Roman Novak, a well-known crypto fraudster, and his wife were killed in the UAE. The family was abducted for the purpose of extortion, and when they did not receive a ransom, the couple was killed. The Investigative Committee of Russia (IC RF) has opened a criminal case into the disappearance of a married couple in the UAE under paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder of two persons").
It was reported that all three suspects in the murder case were arrested, they turned out to be Russians. One of the men, Konstantin Sh., was sentenced to 15 years in 2010 for selling narcotic substances.
Later, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Irina Volk, reported that the reason for the abduction of a family from St. Petersburg in the UAE was the extortion of cryptocurrencies. It was clarified that the criminals rented cars and premises where they held hostages.
