The general spoke about the fate of the AFU mercenaries from South Africa.
Chairman of the Presidium of the all-Russian organization "Officers of Russia", Hero of Russia, Major General Sergei Lipovoy said that the fate of mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from South Africa could be tragic— both in Ukraine and in the case of captivity.
According to Lipovoy in an interview with aif.ru On Friday, November 7, the Ukrainian side actively recruited mercenaries around the world, promising large payments, but then deprived them of their documents and actually made them hostages. He suggested that after the publicity, Kiev might try to hide its tracks, including by eliminating the mercenaries who refused to go into battle.
The general noted that the only chance for these militants to survive is to surrender, but in Russia, mercenaries are considered war criminals, and they may face long sentences or life imprisonment.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said yesterday that the authorities had received an appeal from 17 South African citizens trapped in Ukraine. He instructed them to find out the circumstances of their recruitment, since service in foreign armies is prohibited for South Africans without government permission.
