The economist spoke about tax benefits for pre-retirees

Since 2018, Russians of pre-retirement age have received a number of federal benefits and support measures. This was announced on Friday, November 7, by Igor Balynin, Associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. Among them are tax breaks, labor guarantees and special conditions for receiving social benefits.

Ensuring job stability has become the main measure of protection: the law prohibits refusing to hire pre-retirees or firing them because of their age. Criminal liability and a fine of up to 200 thousand rubles are provided for violations.

Also, such citizens are provided with two paid days per year for medical examinations, which, according to Balynin, helps to detect diseases in time and maintain health.

For unemployed pre—retirees, an increased unemployment benefit is provided - up to 15,044 rubles. The amount of payments depends on the period of job search: 75% of the average earnings in the first three months, then 60% and 45%.

The period of receiving benefits is usually limited to 12 months, but with a long insurance record it can be extended up to two years.

All these measures, Balynin noted, are aimed at improving the quality of life of older citizens and mitigating the consequences of pension reform.

Working age: pre-retirees are twice as likely to be called to work

This is due to a shortage of staff, but it is still much more difficult for them to get a job than for younger ones.

In June, Balynin spoke about paid additional leave for pre-retirees. According to him, pre-retirees in Russia have a number of labor guarantees, including protection from age-related dismissal and the right to additional days off for medical examinations.
