Mobile Internet and SMS are planned to be "cooled" for 24 hours after roaming

Russia may introduce a daily "cooling-off period" after roaming or when the SIM card is inactive for more than 72 hours, during which the mobile Internet and SMS will not work. This was reported on November 7 by the newspaper Kommersant, citing sources.

"Such a measure may be aimed at limiting the operation of SIM cards that are used in attacks by UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles. — Ed.)," the publication says.

The publication recalls that a similar measure is currently in effect for foreign SIM cards. At the same time, access to services with Russian SIM cards can be immediately resumed upon subscriber verification, the newspaper notes.

Earlier, on October 24, Russians were told that Russian telecom operators will be able to block unnecessary SIM cards from November 1. It was clarified that according to the current legislation, an individual can have no more than 20 numbers and subscribers who violate this rule must terminate unnecessary contracts for the provision of communication services.
