Several families from the United States and Canada have filed lawsuits against OpenAI, claiming that their loved ones committed suicide after communicating with the chat bot ChatGPT. This was reported on November 7 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

"Families in the United States and Canada have sued OpenAI, claiming that their loved ones suffered as a result of interacting with the popular chatbot ChatGPT," the publication says.

According to the publication, seven lawsuits have been filed in the California state court, alleging that the victims fell into delusional states and emotional crises after communicating with artificial intelligence (AI), four of whom committed suicide. The complaints include charges of wrongful death, assisted suicide, and manslaughter.

The plaintiffs claim that the company has not taken sufficient measures to prevent such cases, despite growing warnings about the potential psychological risks of interacting with generative artificial intelligence models. OpenAI has not yet commented on the allegations.

Politico reported on October 6 that the Paris prosecutor's office launched an investigation into Apple over the collection of recordings by the Siri voice assistant. It was clarified that the investigation followed a complaint by the French non-governmental organization Ligue des droits de l'Homme, filed in February, following the testimony of former Apple employee Thomas Le Bonnec, who in 2019, while working for the Irish company Globe Technical Services, analyzed recordings made by Siri.
