How to register for pregnancy. Izvestia's instructions
For many women, pregnancy is a joyful and long—awaited event. However, it also requires increased attention to the health of the expectant mother. To prevent possible complications during childbirth and the development of dangerous pathologies in the child, it is recommended to register for pregnancy. Read about how to do this in the Izvestia article.
When to register for pregnancy
You can register with an obstetrician-gynecologist at any stage of pregnancy. However, experts recommend contacting a women's clinic in the first trimester, at 8-12 weeks. This period is considered optimal for starting medical supervision and conducting the necessary examinations.
Early treatment allows doctors to start monitoring fetal development at the initial stages and, if necessary, prescribe corrective therapy on time.
How to register for pregnancy
After receiving a positive pregnancy test result, you must make an appointment with a gynecologist and register. A visit to a specialist is needed to confirm the fact of pregnancy and establish the exact date. No special training is required for the first visit to the antenatal clinic.
The following documents will be required for official registration:
- passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation;
- compulsory medical insurance policy (CHI);
- insurance certificate (SNILS).
An expectant mother can register with both a state women's clinic and a private medical center. If you have an MHI policy, all basic services are provided free of charge in any region of Russia.
In addition, a woman has the right to independently choose the medical institution where she will be monitored, as well as the doctor who will manage the pregnancy. To change the clinic or a specialist, you need to write an application addressed to the chief physician and make a transfer of the medical card. This procedure is free of charge.
How to choose a medical facility
When choosing a clinic for pregnancy management, several important criteria should be considered. A competent approach to choosing a medical institution ensures comfortable monitoring throughout the entire period.
Key parameters for evaluation:
- qualifications and experience of doctors;
- availability of necessary examinations;
- convenience of the clinic location;
- reviews from other patients;
- the cost of services (for private centers).
What tests are needed for registration for pregnancy
For registration, it is enough to take a blood test for hCG to confirm the fact of pregnancy. After that, the attending physician will prescribe a set of additional laboratory tests for the woman. Their list is approved by the Ministry of Health and is the same for all expectant mothers.
The mandatory list of tests includes:
- general blood and urine tests;
- blood glucose testing;
- tests for hepatitis B and C, HIV, syphilis;
- microflora smear and urine culture;
- biochemical analysis of blood and TSH;
- determination of blood type and Rh factor;
- coagulogram;
- cytological examination of the smear.
All studies can be performed in a public clinic or a private laboratory. The results of tests performed in accredited medical institutions are required to be accepted in any antenatal clinic.
Schedule of observations after registration for pregnancy
After registration for pregnancy, a regular schedule of visits to the gynecologist is established. The standard frequency of checkups is every 4 weeks during the first and second trimesters. In the third trimester, visits increase to once every 2-3 weeks. After the 36th week, checkups are carried out weekly for careful monitoring and preparation for childbirth.
Allowance for registration for pregnancy
Starting in 2021, some women who live in Russia and are registered for pregnancy before the 12th week may receive a single allowance. It is paid monthly until delivery.
You can apply for benefits if all of the following conditions are met:
- the woman was registered before the 12th week of pregnancy and regularly attends a women's consultation (at 10-14, 18-22, 30-32 weeks);
- the woman permanently resides in Russia;
- The average per capita income of all family members is less than the regional subsistence level;
- the family's property does not exceed the established list;
- all adult family members work and receive a salary, or they have valid reasons for lack of income (military service, official unemployed status, child care for up to three years, imprisonment, etc.).
The amount of the allowance is 50% of the subsistence minimum for the able-bodied population in the region. You can make a payment at Gosuslugi, at the MFC or at the branch of the Social Fund of Russia.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health proposed to introduce mandatory non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) for all pregnant women.
