American leader Donald Trump called on Wednesday, November 5, to repeal the filibuster rule, thereby putting an end to the ongoing shutdown in the country.

"I think this is very important: we need to open up the country. And the way to do it is this afternoon (November 5th. — Ed.) — repeal the filibuster rule," Trump said during a meeting with senators, his words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

The filibuster is used to delay voting in parliament, and its implementation is possible with the support of two-thirds of lawmakers to end the debate. Thus, this tactic makes it possible to prevent the adoption of laws even with the required number of votes.

According to the head of the White House, without repealing the filibuster rule, congressional activities may be blocked for years.
