- The President of the PKR announced the continuation of the struggle for the participation of Russians in the Paralympics
The Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) continues to fight for the admission of Russian athletes to the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. This was announced on November 5 by the president of the organization Pavel Rozhkov.
"We continue to fight for the right of our athletes to participate in the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games. We continue to prepare and hope that some of our guys will be able to take part in them. There are no final decisions yet," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to the head of the PKR, bilateral invitations for athletes will be distributed in January – February 2026. The Russian side expects to receive quotas in key winter disciplines. Among them are cross—country skiing, biathlon, alpine skiing and snowboarding.
Rozhkov added that the agency maintains working contacts with international sports organizations.
On October 23, Mikhail Terentyev, Chairman of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled (VOI), Paralympic champion, deputy of the State Duma (State Duma), told Izvestia that the decision not to allow Russian athletes to participate in the 2026 Paralympic Games would primarily negatively affect the entire international sport. According to him, any sport can develop successfully only in equal conditions, consisting in fair treatment of athletes by judges and observance of fair competition in competitions.
The press service of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced on the same day that Russian athletes would not compete at the 2026 Paralympics. Later, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, called this decision "Nazism."
