- Traveler Fyodor Konyukhov appreciated the importance of the spiritual component in sports
Success in any business requires a harmonious combination of physical, material, moral and spiritual training. This was stated to Izvestia on November 5 by Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov at the Russia — Sports Power forum in Samara to a correspondent of Izvestia.
"When a young man comes to me and says he wants to climb Mount Everest, <...> I ask him about the four components. <...> Are you physically ready? <...> Are you financially secure? <...> And what does moral and spiritual readiness mean to you?" says the traveler, answering to the correspondent's question.
Konyukhov stressed that success in any business requires a harmonious combination of physical, material, moral and spiritual training. It is this principle that he teaches children at his traveling school, where students try different sports from rock climbing to soccer.
"I look, then I go up to my parents and say, your son loves rock climbing very much. You give him to rock climbing, and give your son to football, and yours to cycling," he explained.
Separately, the traveler mentioned the role of patrons in supporting young talents, who provide full support for young athletes, including scholarships, meals and equipment.
"I think there are more opportunities now, especially for children, <...> and Russia has the most records. In everything, in aeronautics, in veselodka, in yachts, in dog sledding," Konyukhov noted.
Earlier, on August 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Russian athletes confirm the country's status as one of the world's leading sports powers with their achievements. He stressed the importance of creating an accessible, convenient and high-quality sports infrastructure and organizing sports and recreation events.
