The United States plans to conclude a new treaty with Russia regulating nuclear arms control. This was announced on November 4 by Robert Kadleck, a candidate for the post of Assistant Secretary of Defense for nuclear deterrence, as well as chemical and biological protection, nominated by US President Donald Trump.

"Russia has deployed a large and diverse arsenal of theater-range nuclear forces that are not covered by the new START Treaty," Kadlek said in his pre—election address.

He promised to initiate the development of a new agreement between Moscow and Washington, which will strengthen the system of international arms control.
