Romania took off four NATO fighter jets near the border with Ukraine
On the night of November 3-4, the Romanian Armed Forces took off two F-16 fighter jets and two German Eurofighter Typhoons to ensure the safety of airspace near the border with Ukraine. This was announced on November 4 by the Ministry of National Defense of the country on its website.
"Due to an air raid alert, two F-16 aircraft stationed at Fetesti Airbase were lifted into the air...> two German Eurofighter Typhoon fighters stationed at the Mikhail Kogalniceanu airbase to explore and ensure the safety of national airspace," the ministry noted.
It is specified that the pilots had permission to open fire in violation of Romanian airspace. According to the Ministry, no unauthorized incursions were recorded, and no debris from aerial objects was found on the territory of the country.
On October 29, the Polish Armed Forces reported that the country's Air Force allegedly managed to intercept a Russian Il-20 aircraft over the Baltic Sea. It was noted that the Russian aircraft was allegedly carrying out a reconnaissance mission in international airspace without a registered flight plan and with the transponder turned off. At the same time, it is specified that the aircraft did not violate the borders of Polish airspace.
The next day, Poland sent fighter jets for the second time, allegedly to intercept a Russian Il-20 aircraft.
