Putin signed a law on year-round conscription into the army
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law establishing year-round conscription from January 1 to December 31, starting in 2026. The document was published on November 4 on the official portal of legal information.
According to the document, conscripts will continue to be sent to their duty station twice a year: from April 1 to July 15 and from October 1 to December 31. Special dispatch dates are set for certain categories of citizens. The deadline for the appearance of a summons from the register may not exceed 30 days from the date of its posting.
In addition, military enlistment offices will have the right to issue electronic extracts from the military registration register. The draft commissions are responsible for organizing medical examinations and professional psychological selection of citizens. The Law comes into force from the date of its publication.
On September 26, a group of deputies submitted to the State Duma (State Duma) of the Russian Federation a bill that proposes to change the procedure for fines for failure to inform the military enlistment office about the move. It is assumed that they will now be year-round. The changes will affect the article of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation, which concerns the failure of citizens to fulfill their military registration duties.
