Centuries-old traditions of patriotism unite the peoples of Russia. This was announced on November 4 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in a congratulatory message on National Unity Day.

"Today, the centuries—old traditions of patriotism, civic responsibility, and love for the Fatherland unite the peoples of our country around common goals and objectives, help to counter external threats, and are the foundation for Russia's development and well-being," Mishustin said, his address published on the official website of the government.

The Russian Prime Minister noted that on this day, Russian citizens pay tribute to the heroes of 1612, who were able to defend Russia's independence and put an end to the Time of Troubles. He also pointed out their contribution to strengthening the country's statehood.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the monument to Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky on Red Square in Moscow, and also talked with young activists, representatives of volunteer movements and children of heroes of the special military operation (SVO).

Prior to that, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin congratulated the residents of the capital and called the centuries-old traditions of national unity the solid foundation of modern Russia. According to him, National Unity Day "affirms the values of patriotism and selfless service to the Motherland."
