Tankers of the Center group of forces told about the course of the battles for Krasnoarmeysk

The military personnel of the Center group of forces told Izvestia about the course of the battles for Krasnoarmeysk. Tank units continue to strike enemy positions, covering the advancing assault groups and supporting the infantry advance.

According to the fighters, the work is being carried out in the face of active opposition from the Ukrainian troops. Tankers of the 506th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 27th Guards Motorized Rifle Division strike targets from closed firing positions. Their main tasks are the defeat of infantry concentrations, the elimination of ammunition depots and the destruction of temporary locations.

The commander of the tank platoon, Senior Lieutenant Alexei Gridin, said that the units were advancing towards Krasnoarmeysk from a distance of about 5 km, carrying out tasks to clear the territory. According to him, the crews are using T-72B3M tanks, pre-masking them and strengthening their protection.

Tank commander Alexey Rodichev noted that the crews are working in an ever-changing environment, responding to intelligence reports and spotters.

"We are working from closed firing positions. We receive commands, or we calculate the opponent. <...> Either they have some kind of ammunition supplies, or the movement of enemy personnel. We receive a team, we react quickly, load up, set up and are ready to work," he said.

Ilya Kibardin, the T-72B3M gunner and operator, stressed that the intensity of combat work had increased significantly.

"We work three, sometimes four times a day, because now there is an active assault on Krasnoarmeysk. The enemy has noticeably fewer "birds", that is, it is clear that they are already weakening. <...> Now we are directly supporting the assault groups," Kibardin shared.

Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan, who was at the position, noted the high level of interaction between the units. According to him, the fighters immediately react to the appearance of enemy targets, and fire opens within a few seconds after detection.

Platoon commander Egor Zalesko added that special attention is being paid to countering drones. According to him, after the active work of calculations and air defense systems, the number of enemy drones in the combat zone has significantly decreased.

According to the ministry, the Russian military also managed to repel 10 attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which were launched in order to break out of the encirclement to the north and northwest of Krasnoarmeysk.
