One person was killed in an explosion at a military base in Spain.

An explosion at the Alvarez de Sotomayor military base in Viator, Almeria province, killed at least one person and seriously injured another. This was reported by ABC de Almeria newspaper on October 31.

"Sources from the emergency services confirmed that the explosion occurred in the area of the training camp," the material says.

Firefighters, police, civil guards and an ambulance with a helicopter were sent to the scene to evacuate the seriously injured. The causes of the incident have not yet been determined.

According to the Okdiario newspaper, the military base is the main training center of the Spanish Legion, where exercises with live ammunition and explosives are regularly held. This is not the first time such incidents have occurred on its territory, the publication added.

The Bild newspaper reported on the same day that four people were injured in an explosion at a gas station in Germany. According to the newspaper, during the repair work, a tanker truck caught fire and exploded. Fire and rescue services are working at the scene, significant forces and equipment have been involved.
