On October 30, Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken explained that his statement about "erasing Moscow from the world map" referred to the principle of NATO defense, and not the threat of war with Russia.
"NATO is not at war with the Russian Federation and absolutely does not seek to do so. By definition, we are a defensive alliance," he wrote on the Instagram social network (owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
