Reuters reported on Puma's plans to cut 900 employees in 2026
The Puma clothing brand plans to cut 900 jobs in 2026 due to a review of its development strategy. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on October 30.
"Puma has become too commercial, it is too often advertised on the wrong channels, and it offers too many discounts," said CEO Arthur Held.
Puma is reviewing its wholesale strategy in order to improve consumer perception of the brand and limit discount offers. Another goal is to reduce the number of sales to American retailers who sell Puma products for undervalued purposes. It clarifies that instead, the clothing brand aims at direct sales through its websites and stores.
According to the company, sales in the third quarter of 2025 fell by 15.3% to €1.96 billion. The company clarified that it intends to resume growth in 2027, after a wave of cuts in 2026.
Earlier, on October 16, it was reported that Nestle intends to cut 16,000 employees by 2027 in order to cut its costs and improve production efficiency, and the company's revenue decreased by 1.9%.
In addition, on October 28, the Amazon marketplace announced a wave of cuts. The company plans to lay off 14,000 people and stated that the reason for the restructuring is investments in artificial intelligence.
