- NSF announced China's launch of a manned spacecraft to the space station
China will launch the Shenzhou-21 manned spacecraft with three taikonauts (Chinese cosmonauts) to the space station on October 31 at 18:44 Moscow time. This was reported by the NSF news agency on October 27.
"The Chinese space station Tiangong is to receive three new taikonauts from the Shenzhou-21 mission, which is scheduled to launch on Friday, October 31, at 15:44 UTC (18:44 Moscow time. - Ed.) from site 901 at the Jiuquan Cosmodrome in China," the publication says.
It is noted that three crew members are currently unknown, although their choice was finalized in February. It is expected that the names of the taikonauts will be made public approximately 24 hours before the launch.
"Their spacecraft, whose design is closely related to the Russian Soyuz, will have a mass of about 8.1 kg at launch," the report said.
Earlier, on October 26, it was reported that the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) successfully launched the HTV-X1 spacecraft into orbit using an H3-24 heavy launch vehicle. The purpose of the spacecraft's flight is to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS).
