The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are in full tactical encirclement in the Kupyansk area and will not be able to hold the city. Such a statement was made on October 29 by retired military expert Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk in an interview "Lenta.ru ".

"Today, the enemy is in a complete tactical environment. This means that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are completely under the control of our military, they have nowhere to hide. In addition, we significantly outnumber the enemy in forces and means," Matviychuk said.

The military expert recommended that the Ukrainian military surrender to save their lives. According to him, attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to transfer reserves to the Kupyansk area are being suppressed by the Russian military. Matviychuk called the statements of the Ukrainian command about the stabilization of the situation in the city bravado, convinced that the fate of Kupyansk has already been decided.

On October 29, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian Army is currently destroying groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is surrounded in the Kupyansk area of the Kharkiv region. According to a report by Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, to Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 26, a group of more than 10,000 Armed Forces personnel is now surrounded in the Kupyansk and Red Army directions. In order to minimize unnecessary casualties, the Russian leader called for all measures to be taken so that Ukrainians would surrender, since the Russian Army has historically always treated the defeated enemy with mercy.
