Port line: The Russian Federation tested the Poseidon underwater vehicle with a nuclear installation
Russia is ready to allow media representatives, including Ukrainian and foreign journalists, into the enemy's encirclement zone in Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk: for this, fighting will be stopped for several hours. Vladimir Putin said this on October 29 during a conversation with soldiers undergoing rehabilitation at the Central Military Clinical Hospital. Correspondents will be able not only to verify the very fact of the encirclement of territories, but also, if necessary, to talk with the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Next, the Kiev regime will have to decide the fate of its fighters, the president said. At the meeting, Vladimir Putin also announced the testing of the underwater Poseidon with a nuclear power plant, a device that experts classify as a "doomsday weapon" because of its destructive power and scale of impact.
Putin visited the soldiers in the hospital
On October 29, Vladimir Putin arrived at the P.V. Mandryk Central Military Clinical Hospital in Moscow, where wounded servicemen, in particular, the 127th separate Reconnaissance Brigade, are being treated. The head of state came out to the fighters, holding two icons in his hands — with images of St. Prince Vladimir and St. George the Victorious.
These icons were presented to the president on his birthday by soldiers from the front — it was they who saved the lives of military personnel, and bullet marks are visible on the images. One of the guys who gave this gift to Vladimir Putin, junior sergeant of the 127th separate reconnaissance brigade Ruslan Kolyvanov, could not go out to meet the president. During a combat mission on Alekseevsky Island, he received shrapnel wounds to both legs and was evacuated to a hospital. The head of state came to his chamber to personally thank him.
— I've already talked to the guys, I was very pleased to receive your gifts, because they have a special value for you and for me. This is what saved your life. Only now did the doctor tell about the injury. Thank God, everything is going the way it is, everything will be fine," Vladimir Putin told him.
The president was also not empty—handed - he took out a wooden case from a gift bag he had brought with him.: "A watch is such an officer's gift," the president said. He also presented Ruslan with an icon of the Guardian Angel and a gold badge depicting the state emblem of Russia. Immediately after that, the head of state had a cup of tea with the rest of the 127th brigade soldiers who are being treated at the hospital.
— Everyone who is in the zone of a special military operation, at the front, in the war, they all behave heroically, you know, they can fly anywhere at any second. But still, assault troops, special forces and military intelligence — people like you — it still requires special training, it requires a special character. These are obvious things, just obvious. And I am very pleased to note that we have people like you," the Russian leader remarked.
The media can invite Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk to be surrounded.
The situation in the CBO zone is developing favorably: the Russian Armed Forces are moving forward and acting actively in all areas. The President elaborated on the recent encirclement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk. Earlier it was reported that there are up to 5,000 Ukrainian troops in the Kupyansk pocket, and 5.5 thousand in the Red Army. In this context, Vladimir Putin made an unexpected statement: it is possible to launch media representatives, including Ukrainian journalists, into the enemy's encirclement zones. This will help them personally verify the condition of the encircled troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And then the political leadership of Ukraine would decide on the fate of its military personnel. "The way they once did at Azovstal, they will have such an opportunity," Vladimir Putin said.
He also announced the conditions: for this, Moscow will cease hostilities for several hours — for two, three or six, so that groups of journalists can enter populated areas, assess the situation, talk with Ukrainian servicemen and leave.
— We are ready to bring them to certain points, to a certain point, so that the Ukrainian military could receive them from that side. The most important thing is to avoid provocations from the Ukrainian side, so that some drone does not fly there, one of these journalists does not get hurt, and then they would try to blame this incident on us. We don't need it. On the contrary, we are ready to do everything as I say now. The only question is whether the Ukrainian side is ready for this," he said.
Reports from the encircled groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will show what is really happening at the front, shake the prevailing Western belief that Ukraine is winning, military expert Viktor Litovkin told Izvestia. At the same time, allowing foreign journalists to visit the enemy in the boilers is a very difficult event: according to the expert, there is a risk that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will try to take hostages in order to put forward their demands.
"All this will greatly affect the mood in Western countries, and it will be even more difficult for governments to explain to people why they are helping the Zelensky regime," he said. — The West does not want to know the truth about what is happening on the front line, it sees everything from its bell tower. But this picture is different from reality. It is known that the materials of many journalists from the free zone are not shown or published later. The authorities there are afraid of the truth. They are giving large sums of taxpayers to support the Zelensky regime, despite the fact that their inflation is rising, life is becoming more expensive for ordinary people.
The real information from the cauldrons will show: "Zelensky is not winning, the war is lost for Ukraine, and Kiev needs to sign, if not a surrender, then a peace agreement and not on his terms," the expert says.
In Kiev, by the way, they forgot about the encircled and are trying to hide this information, even suppressing the very fact of the encirclement, recalled political analyst Dmitry Yelovsky. Meanwhile, the Russian president is ready to openly show the world the events taking place at the front. Moreover, with such a gesture, Vladimir Putin demonstrates humanity towards the Ukrainian military and their families, and a more humane attitude towards them than the Ukrainian leadership.
"This is also an attempt to save as many lives of opponents as possible. Yes, these are our opponents, that's understandable, but no one has canceled the basic human attitude," he stressed.
How the Russian Federation plans to use the Burevestnik
The President spoke about the improvement of the country's strategic potential. In particular, the latest unlimited-range rocket with a Burevestnik nuclear propulsion system has recently been tested: the reactor installed in it starts up within minutes, and with a power comparable to that of a nuclear submarine, it is a thousand times smaller. Moreover, this not only increases the country's defense capability, but can be used in the national economy and in solving the problem of energy supply in the Arctic and even in the Russian lunar program.
Radiation-protected electronics used in the Burevestnik are already used in space programs, the president added.
— If such a reactor can be safely placed in a cruise missile or an underwater drone, it becomes extremely in demand in outer space. This is an almost unlimited source of energy for the duration of operation. Such installations are capable of providing stable energy to both an orbiting space station and a promising planetary base, for example, on the Moon," military expert Dmitry Kornev told Izvestia.
Thus, Russia already has the technology to deploy such systems. There is no need to wait decades to develop unique energy solutions — these reactors have been created and are ready for space applications, the expert said.
— The safety issue has also been resolved: if the reactors are used on vehicles that should not burn up in the atmosphere and return to Earth at the end of their service, they can be left in a stable orbit, eliminating any risk to the planet. For example, reactors have already been flown into space, including during the Soviet era, and existing experience makes it possible to ensure their safe disposal in airless space," he recalled.
What is the uniqueness of the Poseidon unmanned vehicle
It is noteworthy that nuclear issues have been discussed in the Russian media field for exactly one week: on October 22, the Russian Federation conducted scheduled training of nuclear forces, and on October 26, it announced the completion of decisive tests of the Burevestnik cruise missile of unlimited range. Another statement by Vladimir Putin, which attracted the attention of all the world's media, was the testing of another promising complex, the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle with a nuclear power plant.
— For the first time, we managed not only to launch it with a launch engine from a carrier submarine, but also to launch a nuclear power plant on which this device has passed a certain amount of time. This is a huge success, because in addition to all the advantages that I mentioned with regard to the Burevestnik, there are also minimal dimensions here. If there is a thousand times less than a nuclear reactor on a submarine, there is a hundred times less than a nuclear reactor on a submarine," the president said.
The commissioning of the Poseidon marks a qualitative leap in the development of Russia's strategic nuclear forces, experts believe. Its main feature is the unlimited range and duration of stay underwater, which is provided by a nuclear power plant. It is comparable in size to a small submarine, but it is also a fully robotic vehicle. This gives it a unique ability to carry out combat duty covertly on a par with traditional strategic nuclear forces, Dmitry Kornev said. Poseidon is designed to carry a powerful megaton or multi-megaton nuclear charge.
— The inclusion of Poseidon in Russia's nuclear triad creates a new system of strategic deterrence. This factor, as well as the deployment of other new systems such as the Burevestnik, cannot be ignored by our partners in the process of negotiations on strategic weapons. The appearance of such systems as Poseidon may be an additional incentive for Washington to resume negotiations and work out new "rules of the game," Dmitry Kornev suggested.
If it is used off the enemy's coast, the consequences may include an artificially induced tsunami and large-scale destruction of the coastline. In fact, experts classify it as a "doomsday weapon" because of its potential destructive power and scale of impact. Vladimir Putin clarified that the Poseidon's power significantly exceeds the power of even the most promising Russian Sarmat intercontinental range missile, which, by the way, will soon be on combat duty. The Sarmat is a heavy liquid—fueled missile with a range of 12 to 15,000 km at maximum payload (at least 10 warheads). Its key feature is the ability to make a global flight (for example, through the South Pole).
— Despite the fact that the flight tests of the Sarmat have not yet been completed, the Strategic Missile Forces (Strategic Missile Forces) they are already actively preparing for its deployment. This indicates the high confidence of the military leadership in the imminent adoption of the missile. The Sarmat will be the first to receive the Strategic Missile Forces missile regiment stationed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. It is here that the outdated but still powerful Voevoda missiles will be replaced with new ICBMs. This means not just updating the arsenal, but a qualitative increase in its strategic capabilities," Dmitry Kornev said.
At the moment, the system is at the stage of underwater tests, which are being conducted on board the Belgorod submarine, Dmitry Kornev recalled. The next stage is serial deployment. The main carriers for the Poseidons will be Khabarovsk-class nuclear submarines. According to unofficial data, the main one may be launched in the near future. It is assumed that each boat of this type will be able to carry at least six underwater vehicles, which will ensure continuous combat duty of the fleets.
