Travelers transporting prescription drugs across the border should take special care to avoid drug seizures and prosecution. On October 29, Elena Vatutina, CEO of the Pharmaceutical Knowledge analytical platform, spoke about which funds are subject to restrictions."Газете.Ru ".

"The transportation of medicines across the border is not a formality, but a high—risk area: violation of the rules can lead not only to the seizure of drugs, but also to administrative or criminal liability. Customs authorities in many countries treat pharmaceutical products even more strictly than alcohol or tobacco, precisely because of the risk of illegal trafficking of potent substances," she explained.

The greatest difficulties, according to the expert, arise with drugs containing psychotropic or potent components. Different countries have different restrictions: for example, pseudoephedrine antipruritic drugs are prohibited in Japan, while the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have strict restrictions on the import of tranquilizers and analgesics.

"In Russia, these include the popular drugs Phenazepam, Kodelak, Corvalol, as well as strong codeine—based painkillers," the specialist said.

Vatutina recommends that you always have with you the original prescription or a medical statement indicating the international name of the active substance, dosage and course of treatment. Narcotic analgesics will require a permit from the Ministry of Health of the destination country.

"Different states set their own restrictions, and failure to comply with their rules can result not only in the loss of the drug, but also in the threat of interruption of therapy. To avoid this, it is important for the patient to clarify the requirements of the country of entry in advance and prepare the documents," concluded Vatutina.

Earlier in the day, Alexey Reshetun, a forensic scientist and assistant at the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy at Pirogov University, said that the use of electronic cigarettes and vapes poses a particular threat to women of childbearing age. According to him, harmful substances, including nicotine, have a cumulative effect on eggs, which are not renewed during life.
