Belousov pointed out the usefulness of the meeting between the leaders of Russia and Syria

The meeting of Russian leader Vladimir Putin with President of Syria for the transitional period Ahmed al-Sharaa in the Kremlin contributed to the comprehensive development of relations between the military departments of the two countries. This was announced on October 28 by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov at a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Mahraf Abu Qasra.

"And the fact that we are here at the negotiating table again shows that contacts between our political leaders and contacts between military departments are actually meaningful, fruitful and have great prospects," he said on the Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

It is noted that the defense ministers of the two countries discussed the practical implementation of promising areas of bilateral cooperation. In turn, Abu Qasra thanked the Russian leadership, in particular Belousov, for organizing the work of the Syrian delegation in Moscow.

On October 15, Putin held talks with al-Sharaa in the Kremlin. Later, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani said that currently there are no new agreements between Syria and the Russian Federation, the side sees the revision of previous agreements as the main point of the interstate dialogue. The diplomat also said that one of the points of negotiations is the Russian military bases in Syria.
