State Oil Refineries (refineries) India is looking for an opportunity to continue buying some of the Russian oil at a discount, relying on small suppliers instead of energy giants from the US blacklist. This was reported by Bloomberg on October 28.

Companies Indian Oil Corp., Bharat Petroleum Corp. and Hindustan Petroleum Corp. are awaiting official instructions from the government and are evaluating possible alternatives, the agency said, citing refinery managers.

The publication added that due to the fact that other major producers Surgutneftegaz and Gazprom were previously blacklisted, the refineries are finding out how much they can buy from non-sanctioned Russian organizations and at what price.

On October 22, the US Treasury Department announced that the United States was imposing sanctions against Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil. It was clarified that these companies are included in the sanctions list for activities in the Russian energy sector.

On the same day, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow considers the new US restrictive measures against Russian oil companies to be counterproductive. At the same time, she stressed that the new sanctions would not create significant problems for Russia.
