The State Duma assessed the future of negotiations with the United States on Ukraine
The complications in the negotiation process between Russia and the United States on the Ukrainian settlement are temporary. Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, expressed this opinion on Monday, October 27.
"We have proved in Anchorage and in previous conversations that we need to solve complex issues. The ceasefire creates opportunities for a temporary respite for Ukraine in order to further escalate tensions in the next, more severe round. This will lead to big losses and big risks," Chepa said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
He noted that Russia consistently defends its position and is ready for negotiations with the United States.
"We believe that we are resolving the issue of the negotiation process with the United States and achieving a specific goal, but we see that it is not so simple and, as Peskov correctly said, it is impossible to resolve this issue overnight," the deputy summed up.
Earlier in the day, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian Federation and the United States maintain informal contacts on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
Earlier, on October 26, Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin highly appreciates the desire of his American counterpart Donald Trump to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, but notes the difficulty of quickly resolving this problem, IA Regnum reports.
He noted that the conflict with Kiev is very difficult to understand. In this regard, it is impossible to resolve this issue in just one night, writes Life.Ru .
On October 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Putin, taking part in the Russian-American summit in Alaska in August, confirmed Moscow's readiness to work on resolving the conflict in Ukraine based on the concept proposed by the United States. In September, during Lavrov's visit to New York, he reminded Secretary of State Marco Rubio of these events and agreements and received a reply that the United States remembers them and discussions are underway.
