Volunteer stormtroopers who participated in a special military operation in Ukraine will be able to receive the status of a veteran and a disabled combatant. The relevant document, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The initiative came into force on the day of signing. Amendments to the law "On Veterans" were introduced by the Government. Thus, now the status of a combat veteran will be given to fighters who have concluded agreements with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation from October 1, 2022 to September 1, 2023 to perform tasks as part of special forces of military units.
