The International Conservatory Week Festival has started in St. Petersburg, bringing together performers from the best music universities in Russia and other countries. This was reported on October 27 by Izvestia from the scene.

"One of the main cultural events of autumn, which has been uniting the leading conservatories of Russia and the world for a quarter of a century," notes correspondent Roman Ishmukhametov.

This is both an exchange of experience and a review, 13 music academies from eight countries will take part in the festival. The interest in the event is such that there are no free tickets anymore.

"This includes Russia, of course, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, but it also includes Hungary, Serbia, China and Iran," said festival director Lidia Volchek.

Sergey Roldugin, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, artistic director of the St. Petersburg House of Music, also performed variations on Tchaikovsky's Rococo theme. The People's Artist was awarded a diploma and the mantle of honorary professor of the St. Petersburg Conservatory.

"This is the most famous, the first conservatory in Russia. And when you mention the names of those who were involved in its discovery, your voice trembles. And then, when I was accepted to the conservatory, it was a blessing, just an amazing, you know, achievement in life," Roldugin shared.

Earlier, on August 4, it was reported that the works of Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms were performed at the big Sirius Summer Festival. On one stage, the audience was able to see a unique duet of People's Artist of Russia, artistic director of the St. Petersburg House of Music Sergei Roldugin with his longtime friend, conductor and pianist Justus Frantz.
