Yamal has found an effective way to adapt juvenile fish
The Soba Fish Hatchery released more than 11 million fry of valuable whitefish species into the Yamal Rivers by the end of October. Experts have found the best way to adapt the juveniles, the press service of the head of the region reports.
In the current 2025, the company has fully implemented the plan for harvesting. About 10.5 million of the released juveniles are muksun, another 0.7 million are nelma, and 0.13 million are chir.
The factory relied on the production of juveniles with a higher body weight, so that the fry would better adapt to the wild, temperature fluctuations and be less susceptible to predator attacks. This technology requires more time and costs, but significantly increases the survival rate of fish.
The plant started operating in 2017, writes the news agency " <url>". The first batch of juveniles — 2.5 million individuals — was released a year earlier, during the construction of the facility. During its existence, the farm has released about 165 million fry into the reservoirs of the region.
Earlier, Izvestia wrote that Russian scientists have created the first domestic system to improve water quality in aquaculture farms. Its use reduces the risk of infections on fish farms, which means that producers do not need to use an antibiotic.
