A foreigner was fined for attempting to import more than 3 tons of salmon into Pskov.

The Nevelsky District Court has passed a verdict against a foreign citizen. He was found guilty of illegally transporting strategically important goods across the border of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The Pskov news feed, with reference to the Velikiye Luki Transport Prosecutor's Office, writes that in May a foreigner transported a shipment of Atlantic salmon in a car. He planned to sell more than 3 tons of fish products in Pskov for processing fish into bone meal.

His actions were stopped in the Nevelsky district by employees of the mobile group of the Pskov customs.

The court sentenced the perpetrator to a fine of 350 thousand rubles. Fish products had to be destroyed.

Earlier it was reported that employees of the Ussuriysk customs seized about 18 tons of chum from a resident of Sakhalin. He tried to illegally ship the fish to one of the Asian countries. Earlier, the violator had already shipped 20 tons of fish across the border. The total value of the contraband goods is 20 million rubles.
