About 20 thousand passwords of French civil servants were "stolen" by cybercriminals, the Paris Mayor's office was particularly badly affected. This was reported on October 21 by the French newspaper Le Figaro.

It is reported that the largest number of stolen passwords are from government employees in the United States. France is in second place, followed by Italy, Great Britain and Germany.

The publication clarified that each of these passwords is associated with academic records and e-mail addresses of various French institutions, most often the passwords could be recovered.

"[Cybercriminals] can potentially gain access to the email accounts and other confidential information of these government employees," the publication claims.

The Politico newspaper reported on October 6 that the Paris prosecutor's office launched an investigation into Apple due to the collection of recordings by the Siri voice assistant. The investigation, led by the anti-cybercrime agency (OFAC), followed a complaint filed in February by the French non-governmental organization Ligue des droits de l'Homme, following testimony from former Apple employee Thomas Le Bonnec, who in 2019, while working for the Irish company Globe Technical Services, analyzed recordings made by Siri.
