Figaro reported the resignation of the director of the Louvre after the robbery
Louvre director Laurence De Car resigned after the robbery, which caused an estimated €88 million in damage, but her request was rejected amid the upcoming restoration of the museum. This was reported by the Figaro newspaper on October 21, citing sources.
It is clarified that French President Emmanuel Macron, who supports De Car, refused to accept her resignation, noting that the current director will continue to lead the Louvre as part of the most important reconstruction work of the museum.
Macron personally addressed De Car several times and asked her to "hold on," stressing that "there can be no question of disrupting the dynamics of the renovation of the museum."
The broken crown of Emperor Napoleon III's wife Eugenie was discovered near the Louvre after a robbery. According to French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, the robbery "lasted seven minutes."
Law enforcement agencies have discovered the items that the intruders used during the Louvre robbery. It was clarified that two grinders, a gas burner, a container of gasoline, gloves, a walkie-talkie and a blanket were found at the crime scene. On October 21, investigators from the Anti-Banditry Brigade (BRB), together with employees of the Central Directorate for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property (OCBC), found new physical evidence, namely a motorcycle helmet and a glove.
