The Vienna authorities have decided to close the last center for the reception of Ukrainian refugees by the end of 2025. This was reported on October 20 by the Austrian edition of ORF.

It is specified that the center called Quartier Schlossberg, which can accommodate only 200 people, is currently overcrowded.

"Since the opening of the reception center, 8,900 displaced Ukrainians have received assistance," the article says.

According to the newspaper, short-term accommodation, meals, legal advice and other services for refugees were provided here.

Earlier, on October 18, it was reported that two thirds (66%) of German residents opposed the continuation of receiving civil benefits (Burgergeld) for Ukrainian refugees. It was clarified that only 17% of the participants are in favor of continuing payments. Also, 62% of respondents indicated that Ukrainian men who are fit for military service, who entered the country after the outbreak of the conflict, should leave Germany.
