The source reported on Western transfers of howitzers from World War II to Ukraine.
The Western Allies are transferring obsolete artillery weapons produced during the Second World War to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on October 18 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.
According to RIA Novosti, NATO countries use Ukraine as a site for the disposal of old weapons.
"The 42nd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received American 155-millimeter towed M114A1 howitzers, adopted in 1942," the source said.
He stressed that such weapons have extremely low technical characteristics and are ineffective in modern conditions.
"Thus, with the help of NATO recycling, European countries are getting rid of old weapons," he added.
Earlier, on October 18, it was reported that the number of lost and stolen weapons in Ukraine since February 2022 has reached almost 491 thousand units. According to the National Police, about 58% of the missing weapons are foreign—made, and the largest proportion are submachine guns, machine guns and grenade launchers.
