Reuters has learned about BYD's recall of more than 115,000 electric vehicles.
The Chinese company BYD is recalling more than 115,000 Tang and Yuan Pro electric vehicles due to battery problems, Reuters reported on October 17.
According to the publication, the company is recalling 44,535 Tang series vehicles manufactured between March 2015 and July 2017. BYD is also recalling 71,248 Yuan Pro electric vehicles manufactured between February 2021 and August 2022.
Prior to that, in January, the company also recalled 6,843 Fangchengbao Bao 5 plug-in hybrid SUVs. In addition, the automaker recalled about 97,000 Dolphin and Yuan Plus electric vehicles due to a production malfunction of the steering unit.
In August, the German newspaper Handelsblatt reported that BYD's Chinese hybrid car sales in Europe increased by 17,000% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. According to the publication, BYD registered about 20,000 hybrid cars in the European Union (EU) in the first half of this year, which is more than three times more than in the whole of 2024.
