Experts named the most popular rental cars among Russians

From May to September 2025, Lada cars were the most popular cars for rent in Russia, according to a joint study by Avito Auto and Avito Travel (Izvestia has it). The domestic brand took a share of 14.2% of the interest of users of the platform in rental cars.

Lada was followed by Hyundai (13.6%), Kia (9.1%), Toyota (9%) and Volkswagen (5.9%). Among the models, the most popular were Hyundai Solaris (8.9% of interest), Lada Granta (7.8%), Kia Rio (5.9%), Volkswagen Polo (4.8%) and Toyota Camry (2.9%).

Sedans, SUVs, and hatchbacks were the most in demand by body type. The interest in luxury car rentals has increased most noticeably (by 8.5%) compared to the same period last year.

Experts noted that the number of ads offering cars for rent increases slightly during the holiday season, in particular, compared to May – September last year, there were more options in the premium segment by 20.7%. The number of ads in the mass-market car segment increased the most (by 74.2%). There were 30% more offers with premium brand models, and 1.5 times more offers with luxury brand representatives.

Volkswagen, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and Lada car rentals have become more common, and among the models are Skoda Rapid, Lada Largus, Volkswagen Polo, Kia Rio and Hyundai Solaris. At the same time, the number of offers from BMW (+32.8%), Lexus (+25%) and Audi (+14.8%) increased significantly in the premium segment. Among the models, experts singled out BMW X5 (+37.6%), as well as BMW 3 Series (+35.6%) and Mercedes-Benz C-class (+27.6%).

Earlier, on October 16, it was reported that in the first half of the month, prices for new cars changed for 12 brands officially represented on the Russian market. 10 of them have recorded an increase in the price of individual models. The Sollers Argo and Jaecoo J8, as well as the Ambertruck Work, GAC GS4 in one package and the BAIC BJ60 added the most in price.
