Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, said on October 17 that this month in Russia corresponds to the climatic norm and the weather is expected to improve next week.

"The shortage of sun will be filled, most likely, next week, from Tuesday to Thursday. A ridge of high pressure will appear here. And there is a possibility that we will manage without precipitation. However, there may be slight frosts in the region, but this is a necessary addition to the sunny weather," he said in an interview with Radio 1.

According to the forecaster, the temperature will reach +8 degrees during the day and +5 degrees at night next weekend.

"There will be no frosts at the weekend, but light rains are expected. We are currently collecting precipitation for the winter, and we will start spring with a sufficient amount of moisture in the soil layer," Shuvalov added.

On the night of October 13, the temperature may drop to zero — and then it will only decrease.

On October 15, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, said that a cold snap was observed throughout Russia, as a result of which the country's transition to winter mode could be said.
