- Bloomberg reported on the EU's plans to launch joint projects on drones and air defense
In the coming months, the European Union plans to propose the launch of joint projects on drones and air defense (air defense) as part of an ambitious five-year rearmament plan. This was reported on October 15 by Bloomberg with reference to an internal document.
"The plan assumes that by the end of 2027, 40% of EU defense purchases will be carried out jointly, which is more than double the current figure," the publication says.
The main goal of this plan is to increase Europe's combat capability by 2030. As part of a new initiative, the European Commission (EC) is proposing to review the military planning and procurement system.
The document claims that Russia allegedly poses a "constant threat" to European security in the future. At the same time, in recent years, Russia has repeatedly expressed concern about the intensification of NATO on its western borders. The alliance is building up its forces, declaring it a "deterrence of aggression." The agency also notes that Russia remains open to dialogue, but on an equal basis, while demanding that the West abandon the militarization of the continent.
